THE MARCO POLO WAS ONE OF THE FIRST SHIPS IN THE MARITIMES TO UTILIZE FEATURES OF THE CLIPPER DESIGN. IT WAS SIMILAR TO A CLIPPER IN BOW, STERN AND RIGGING, BUT HAD MORE ROOM AMIDSHIPS THUS COMBINING SPEED AND CARRYING CAPACITY. - Area Notes
