IN 1969 IBM INTRODUCED SYSTEM/3 COMPUTER &5496 DATA RECORDER USED WITH IT. 5496 USED 96-COLUMN CARD RATHER THAN 80-COLUMN; ALTHOUGH 90-COLUMN CARD WAS SMALLER, IT COULD RECORD UP TO 20% MORE DATA.
