The notebook was kept by William Saunders, first director of the Dominion Experimental Farms system (1886-1911). Saunders recorded crop plantings and yields, mainly for crops planted on the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa. Some pages compare yields for the Central, Brandon, Indian Head & Agassizl farms. The notebook also contains drafts of William Saunders' reports for the departmental annual report. - Function
