DKM 3 WAS THE LARGEST & MOST PRECISE THEODOLITE MFD BY KERN IN LATER 1950S - EARLY 1960S. IT FEATURES A SHORT BARRELED MIRROR-LENS TELESCOPE WITH WIDE OBJECTIVE APERTURE, AND PROVIDES A REAL, UPRIGHT IMAGE (UNLIKE MOST INSTS., WHICH PRESENT AN INVERTED IMAGE). AUXILIARY TELESCOPE, WHICH USES OCCULAR OF MAIN TELESCOPE, IS ACTIVATED BY A SWITCHING LEVER, USED FOR FINDING SIGNALS & ANGLE MEASUREMENT IF SIGHTS ARE SHORT.
