THIS COLLECTION CONSISTS OF OVER 7500 ARTIFACTS, AND IS THOUGHT TO BE THE LARGEST & MOST COMPREHENSIVE IN CANADA. IT WAS DONATED IN ITS ENTIRETY TO THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY IN1992. - Function

THE SHUTTERED RECEPTACLE & PLUG SET WAS AN IMPROVEMENT OVER PREVIOUS DESIGNS. THIS EARLY EXAMPLE WAS ADVERTISED AS PREVENTING FOREIGN OBJECTS (INCLUDING FINGERS) AND DIRT FROM ENTERING THE RECEPTACLE. THE SHUTTERED RECEPTACLE OPENS ONLY WHEN THE PLUG IS INSERTED, AND CLOSES WHEN IT IS WITHDRAWN. - Area Notes
