TO CONVERT MECHANICAL ENERGY INTO ELECTRICAL ENERGY. - Technical
-
FIRST GENERATOR FOR ELECTOPLATING DEVELOPED IN 1876. PREVIOUSLY, BATTERIES WERE USED, BUT PROVED TO BE INEFFICIENT. A GENERATOROFFERED ADVANTAGES SUCH AS A MORE CONSTANT CURRENT; LESS LABOUR; LESSER MAINTENANCE COSTS; AND THE ABILITY TO REGULATE THE CURRENT. DYNAMOS USED IN ELECTROPLATING DIFFER FROM THOSE USED IN ELECTRIC LIGHTING WORK. THE MACHINE MUST GIVE A LARGE VOLUME OF CURRENT AT A LOW PRESSURE, IN ONE DIRECTION, CONTINUOUSLY.
