HE TOOK PART IN CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL POLAR YEAR EXPEDITION TO COPPERMINE, NWT (1932); WAS INVOLVED IN DESIGN OF MSC RADIOSONDE IN 1930'S; DESIGNED METEO INSTRUMENTS FOR AIRCRAFT WHICH HE USED TO MAKE OBSERVATIONS OVER LAKE ONTARIO IN HIS OWN PLANE.

DOUBLE TUBE OR SHEATHED MAXIMUM THERMOMETER WITH SPHERICAL BULB, OF KIND USED BY MSC CIRCA 1930 TO 1951, AFTER WHICH SHEATHLESS THERMOMETERS WERE USED. DOUBLE TUBE SERVED TO PROTECT SCALE FROM WEATHERING. CANADIAN VERSION APPEARED IN N&Z'S 1938 CATALOGUE.
