EXAMPLE OF ONCE-COMMON SMALL VERTICAL STATIONARY ENGINE, HAVING SLIDE VALVES AND A FLY-BALL GOVERNOR. ESTIMATED 6-8 HP. STEAM ACTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PISTON, AND THERE IS NO COMPOUNDING OF THE USE OF THE STEAM. THE MOTION OF THE ENGINE WORKS ON A CONTINUOUSLY REVOLVING SHAFT, WITH A HEAVY CAST IRON PULLEY. THE CRANK-PIN OF THE REVOLVING SHAFT IS CONNECTED DIRECTLY WITH THE PISTON ROD BY A CONNECTING ROD. FREESTANDING; MOUNTED ON WOODEN BASE./ RESTORED BY MR. " cast in raised print on one side of fitting; " 3/4 " cast on opposite side. " DETROIT LUBRICATOR CO. DETROIT, U.S.A. " incised on two oilers on base, including large oiler mounted behind flywheel. " PENBERTHY INJECTOR CO., LTD. WINDSOR ONT " incised on one oiler on base (poss. later addition/replacement piece).
