IN 1930 THE UNIVERSITY AND ITS STUDENT POPULATION OF 500 WAS MOVED TO HAMILTON, ONT. ( REF. 1) - Function

COLLECTION OF 7 TUNING FORKS, 5 OF WHICH ARE MOUNTED ON RESONATING BOXES AND PRODUCE A STRONGER TONE WHEN STRUCK. IT IS THE AIR IN THE BOX WHICH RESONATES, AND THE SIZE OF THE BOX IS CHOSEN TO PRODUCE THE MAXIMUM EFFECT. THESE FORKS PRODUCE TONES IN THE MIDDLE AND HIGH OCTAVES, AND ONE VERY HIGH D TONE (RE5) (REF. 2). FRENCH TUNING FORKS ARE MARKED WITH DOUBLE THE STANDARD FREQUENCY, IE. MIDDLE C= 512 (PULSES). - Area Notes
