'TRUE BRITON' WAS BUILT IN QUEBEC IN 1865 BY DINNING, AND WAS LISTED AT 1365 TONS, 204 X 28 X 24 FEET. THE SHIP WAS REGISTERED TO R. HUNTER, LIVERPOOL 1886-1890: THE FAMILY OWNED TIMBER PONDS ALONG THE RIVER CLYDE BETWEEN LANGBANK & PORT GLASGOW. THE COMPANY WAS SOLD C. 1930. THE HUNTER FAMILY WAS RELATED TO THE WOOD, RUSSELL AND LIVINGSTON FAMILIES, PROMINANT IN SHIPBUILDING IN GREAT BRITAIN. - Area Notes
