Used in thoracic surgery to secure and ligate pulmonary root during lobectomy. Dr. [Norman] Shenstone modified a tonsillar snare at Toronto General Hospital to make this instrument, which reputedly brought fame to the hospital. [Ref. 1] - Area Notes
