This orienting press was used by the vendor to print display cards for Caplan’s Department Store and Giant Tiger stores. Cette presse à orienter étais utilisé par le donateur pour imprimer des pancartes pour le Grand Magasin Caplan ainsi que pour les magasins Tigre Géant.

Function

This printing press was used to produce limited numbers of small size posters otherwise known as showcards in twelve different fonts. Cette presse à imprimer étais utilisé pour produire des pancartes ou des affiches publicitaires en douze fontes différentes.

Technical

The Line-O-Scribe printing press uses standard metal and wood display types. It represents a simple hand-operated showcard press. The press works on the travelling cylinder principle. The operator pulls a small-diameter impression cylinder over the back of a card which has been placed face down on the press’s inked types. Cette presse à imprimer nommée le Line-O-Scribe utilise des caractères plomb et de bois. Il représente une presse à pancartes simple qui est opérable à la main. Il fonctionne sur le principe d'un cylindre voyageant. L'opérateur tire un cylindre de contre-pression a petit diamètre sous le dos d'une carte qui est placée face cachée sur les fonderies typographiques qui sont recouvertes avec de l'encre pour former une impression.

Some foundry and wood types are intentionally missing. This was because the goal was to only acquire fonts not already in our collection. Finish

A metal printing press that has ben painted grey. It has two legs that have fourteen metal drawers on either foot. It has a flat tray on its top that is made of wood and metal. A metal travelling cylinder is fixed to this tray and has two metal manufacturing plates on it that are black with silver lettering. A brown synthetic cable extends from the metal hood of the printing press. The hood itself has a manufacturing plate on it as well. Une presse à imprimer en métal qui est peinturé gris. Il a deux pieds faits avec le même matériel. Il a quatorze tiroirs en métal sur chaque jambe. Il a aussi un plateau en bois avec des éléments en métal. Un cylindre voyageant en métal est fixé sur le plateau et il a deux plaques du fabricateur fait avec le même matériel qui sont de couleur noire avec un lettrage argent. Un câble synthétique de couleur brune ressort du capot de la presse à imprimer. Le capot a aussi le même type de plaque de fabrication que celui du cylindre voyageant.
