Function

These tweezers could have possibly been used to pick up types before and after using them in a printing press. Ces brucelles pouvaient possiblement être utilisé pour ramasser des caractères avant où après les avoir placés dans une presse à imprimer.

Technical

The Line-O-Scribe printing press uses standard metal and wood display types. It represents a simple hand-operated showcard press. The press works on the travelling cylinder principle. The operator pulls a small-diameter impression cylinder over the back of a card which has been placed face down on the press’s inked types. The types are set up on a tray and locked in place with metal wedges. Cette presse à imprimer nommée le Line-O-Scribe utilise des caractères plomb et de bois. Il représente une presse à pancartes simple qui est opérable à la main. Il fonctionne sur le principe d'un cylindre voyageant. L'opérateur tire un cylindre de contre-pression a petit diamètre sous le dos d'une carte qui est placée face cachée sur les fonderies typographiques qui sont recouvertes avec de l'encre pour former une impression. Les caractères sont tenus en place avec des coins à refendre.

Finish

A stainless-steel pair of tweezers made of silver coloured metal. A marking is visible at the top of the artifact. The two arms of the artifact each have grooves in them and the arms separate from one and other. Each arm has a flat hand on its end. Une paire de brucelles qui sont fait en acier inox de couleur argent. Une marque est visible sur le bout de l'artefact. Les deux bras de la paire de brucelles ont des rainures. Les bras se séparent et ils ont chacun une main à leur extrémité.
