John. T. Ryan Regional Safety Trophy, provided by Mine Safety Appliances Co. of Can. Ltd., and awarded by the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy to the mine which, during the year cited, achieved the lowest accident frequency rate of any coal mine in British Columbia Canada. John T. Ryan : ingénieur spécialisé dans les opérations de sauvetage dans les mines de charbon. En 1914, Il a mis sur pied la Mine Safety Appliances Company et a collaboré avec Thomas Edison dans la conception et prodouction d'une lampe électrique pour les mineurs. Institué en en 1941, le trophée Ryan est attribué aux mines canadiennes ayant démontré le plus faible pourcentage d'accidents en Colombie Britannique. - Function

- The centre bronze plaque is outlined on each side by maple leaves, at the base is an olive branch and at the top of the plaque is a carved out picture of a miner with a young boy and girl on each side.
