- Caption below picture reads: "Spitfire/A Spitfire of 72 Squadron patrols over Kent in the summer of 1940. This aircraft was flown/during the Battle by Flight Lieutenant Des Sheen - an Australian pre-war volunteer."; lettering hand painted near the lower right corner of the original canvas reads: "GEOFF NUTKINS - DECEMBER 1988"; number hand written in pencil on the bottom border at right reads: "430/525"; there are 5 signatures in pencil on the borders below the picture, including that of the Pilot of the aircraft depicted in the picture.
