Roy Belshaw was a life-long Waterous employee. In 1993, he rescued (with permission) an extraordinary collection of Waterous company material from the dumpster into which it had been thrown. Over and above the historical significance of the Waterous firm, it is the completeness of the records saved by Mr. Belshaw that make this collection unique. For once, a detailed internal study of a Canadian firm like this can be carried out against its record of production. The collection also includes a great deal of material that documents the social and plant life of the workers. - Function
-
Instrument for multiplying, dividing, extracting roots, and obtaining powers of numbers mechanically by logarithmic means. - Technical

The Waterous firm (under various names) was one of Canada's pioneering equipment manufacturers. Located in Brantford, it was one of Canada's longest lasting heavy equipment manufacturers - producing agricultural, steam, fire, and especially logging equipment from 1844-1992. - Area Notes
