NABU was part of an unsuccessful Canadian initiative in the computer industry. In 1981, a group of high tech companies in the Ottawa are amalgamated to from NABU Mfg. Corp. NABU network went on-line in 1982 in Ottawa area via local cable vision companies but its planned expansion never occurred. NABU ceased operations in 1986 because of problems in acquiring software and of low subscription rates. NABU a fait part d'une initiative qui a échoué au Canada dans l'industrie de l'ordinateur. It was overtaken by rapid improvement in personal computer technology, such as IMB PC and Apple MacIntosh. NABU might be seen as local precursor to 1990s internet. Faisait partie d'un nouveau concept visant d'apporter des logiciels à la maison pour des bas prix ainsi que de pouvoir promoteur l'accès à une grande étendue de programmes. Il était dépassé par des améliorations rapides en technologie d'ordinateurs par des compagnies comme IBM PC et Apple Macintosh. NABU peut être considéré comme le précurseur de l'Internet dans les années 1990s.

Finish

The object is covered in a gray metal box that is held together with screws on the front plate as well as two additional screws on either side. A black decal shows white lettering on the front plate. A black cable extends from the back of a metal plate attached to the back end of the artifact. A metal manufacturer's plate is fastened to the metal back of the artifact. L'objet est recouvert dune boite en métal de couleur grise qui est tenu ensemble par des visses sur le devant et deux visses additionnelles sur chaque coter. Une décalcomanie noire démontre du lettrage écrit en blanc sur la plaque du devant. Un câble noir ressort de l’arrière dune plaque en métal sur le dos de l’objet. Une plaque du constructeur en métal est attaché au dos en métal de l'objet.

Decoration

A decal on the front face of the artifact shows the company name, the name of the object itself, as well as the various options the artifact provides as a personal computer.
