Very old method of fishing. First fishermen who came to Newfoundland coast used it was also used by the French in Acadie and in the Gulf of the St.Lawrence in the 16th century. This method was used in Canada until the 20th century. (From Acquisition Worksheet, see Ref. 1) Cet objet comprend une vieille méthode de pêche. Les premiers pêcheurs qui s'en allaient à Terre-Neuve utilisaient ce style de pêche, ainsi que les Français en Acadie et dans le fleuve Saint-Laurent au 16e siècle.
