Technical

The commercial carpet sweeper was developed by Melville Bissell in 1876 for his wife Anna. Anna became one of the first, if not the first, female CEOs in the United States. Anna acted as the CEO from 1889 to 1919, and served as the Chair of the Board of Directors until 1934. She also introduced workers’ compensation and pension plans for her employees. Under Anna's management the Bissell Company became the largest manufacturer of sweepers in the world. This type of Bissell logo first used in 1957. Model names such as Chatelaine were adertised as such in order to attract young female customers to the product. Finish

This aluminum metal vacuum is painted a grey blue and has a long metal handle to use it with. It has four synthetic wheels on the bottom of its base that are possibly coated in a small amount of rubber. It also has a twisted synthetic brush that possibly has a nylon, fibre, and horse hair composition. Une balayeuse en métal avec une composition d'aluminium peinturer gris-bleu avec une manche longue qui est utilisé pour le pousser.
