The Blériot type XI was designed primarily by Raymond Saulnier, but it was a natural evolution from earlier Blériot aircraft, and one to which Louis Blériot himself made substantial contributions. Blériot achieved immortality in the Type XI on July 25, 1909, when he made the first airplane crossing of the English Channel, covering the 40 km between Calais and Dover in 36 minutes and 30 seconds. It is worth noting that several French-made Blériot XIs flew on Canadian soil before 1914. Small wooden section of a propeller. The two flat ends of the propeller is made from unfinished wood. The rest of the wooden propeller section presumably has a layer of varnish. The main surface of the propeller has a small piece of tape with handwritting as well as a manufacturer's logo. Petite section d'une hélice en bois. Les deux bouts plats de l'hélice est fabriqué de bois non-traité. Le reste de la section d'hélice est fabriquée de bois avec une couche de vernis. La surface principale de l'hélice a un petit morceau de ruban avec de l'écriture ainsi que le logo du manufacturier.
