The donor received this toy from his father (Edmund A. Cuylits), who received it from donor’s grandfather (Edmund E. Cuylits). Edmund E. Cuylits was an independent distributor of steam boilers in Holland. The toy was a gift from a Belgian manufacturer of the equipment that he sold. Le donateur a reçu ce jouet de son père (Edmund A. The toy represents a stationary steam traction engine with a flywheel. It was powered by an oil burner inside the boiler. Bing was a German toy manufacturer, opened in 1863, and well known for its toy trains and steam engines. The company established the “Nuremberg” school of toy making. The company went out of business in 1933, when its Jewish owners had to leave Nazi Germany. Today, Bing toys are valued collectables. - Painted wooden base with finishing nails on all four corners holding mosaic base. Painted red flywheel and orange painted chimney with red smokestack. Tin steam engine model. Base en bois peinturé avec des clous sur chaque coin pour soutenir la base en mosaique. Volant peinturé en rouge et cheminé peinturé orange. Machine à vapeur en étain.
