Function

According to the preface of the book, the author's intention is " to fill a gap in aeronautical instruction books. A handbook containing a simple explanation of the construction and functioning of the more important engine components and accessories." The author adds: " An attempt has therefore been made to combine a convenient-size volume and a short explanation of the theory of the four-stroke cycle as applied to aero engines, together with an explanation of the more important points concerning engine components, carburettors, magnetos, superchargers, etc. " Selon l'avant-propos du livre, l'intention de l'auteur était de remplir un vide dans les livres d'instruction aéronautique. Un livre qui contient une explication simple de la construction et le fonctionnement des composantes de moteurs les plus importants. L'auteur rajoute aussi que le but du livre est d'avoir un mélange d'un livre compacte avec une brève explication de la théorie du cycle à quatre temps appliquées aux moteurs d'avion, ainsi qu'une explication des points les plus importants concernant les composants du moteur, les carburateurs, les magnétos, les compresseurs, etc.

The book itself does not hold much technical significance. However, its importance lies in the fact it belonged first-hand to someone who served in the Canadian armed forces. Small blue paper handbook. The edges of the book have white discoloration due to regular wear and tear. Front cover has red text writting and cream coloured writing in paint. The book has a small black protective fabric piece at the bottom of the spine. Front and back cover has a few small humidity stains. Petit livre à main en papier. Le rebord du livre à une décoloration blanche en raison de l'usure régulière. Le devant du livre a de l'écriture rouge ainsi qu'une écriture en peinture de couleur crème. Le livre a un petit morceau protecteur en tissu au bas du dos du livre. Les couvertures du livre ont quelques petites taches d'humidité.
