This artifact was used by CEPE [Central Experimental and Proving Establishment] that was later known as AETE (Airborne Experimental and Test Establishment), a DND (Department of National Defence) department at Uplands airport. The Canadair CP-107 Argus aircraft was one of the aircrafts upon which it was installed. Cet artefact était utilisé par le CEPE (Central Experimental et Proving Establishment) qui a été renommé l'AETE (Airborne Experimental et Test Establishment). Il était un département situé au Département de la Défense Nationale (DND) a l'aéroport Uplands. L'Argus Canadair CP-107 étais un de ces avions qui ont installé l'oscillographe.

Function

Used on board aircraft to control cameras that would take photographs of panels and relay them back to the oscillograph for recording. Utiliser à bord un avion pour contrôler des caméras qui prenaient de photographes des panneaux et après la station de commande pouvais le relier a un oscillographe pour enregistrer l'information.

Technical

The Consolidated Electronics Type 5-119 recording oscillograph was introduced no later than 1953. Cameras would be installed on an aircraft and controlled with the help of a control panel. The oscillograph would record information while up to four cameras would be have pre-set settings in order to photograph panels. It was used to record information onto a paper roll, of various systems on the aircraft, like the airspeed, hydraulic pressure, position of landing gear, altitude and many others. L'oscillographe Type 5-119 conçu par Consolidated Electronics a été introduit avant 1953. Des caméras auront été installé dans l'avion et contrôler avec l'aide d'un panneau de commande. L'oscillographe enregistrait de l'information pendant que jusqu'à quatre caméras étaient préréglés à photographier de panneaux. L'oscillographe enregistrait la pression hydraulique, position du train d'atterrissage, vitesse, élévation et encore d'autres. L'information était enregistrée sur un rouleau de papier attacher à l'oscillographe.

Finish

A silver metal faced box with synthetic black dials and knobs as well as silver metal switches. A manufacturing plate is visible in its proper bottom left corner with red lettering on it. Above the plate are several metal switches. Two of the metal switches have white synthetic sleeves on their handles. The rest of the box has a brass colored shell that is riveted. The back of the box has twelve plug inlets that are placed in four labeled columns. Each plug has black lettering next to it. Une boite en métal avec une face de couleur argent qui a des boutons et des cadrans de couleur noire fait avec du matériel synthétique. Des interrupteurs en métal son visible dans le coin du bon côté gauche. Deux interrupteurs ont une manche synthétique blanches. En bas des interrupteurs il y a une plaque du fabricateur avec du lettrage rouge. Les autres partis de la boite sont formés par une coquille rivetée de couleur laiton. Le dos de la boite à quatre colonnes de fiches femelles qui sont identifiées avec un lettrage noir à côté de chacun.
