Taken from curatorial worksheet: "This tin belonged to Mrs. Ester George, married to Henry Bowyer. They lived in Shropshire, England. They brought this box with them when they immigrated to Canada aboard the SS Vancouver in 1906. They settled in Toronto. Mr. Bowyer was a carpenter and built houses in Toronto. Ester kept the box on a shelf on the top of the kitchen stove. The tin was given to their daughter Caroline Bowyer, married to Harold Heatley and then it was passed down to their daughter Pearl Heatley Peterkin."

Markings
"HUNTLEY & PALMERS/ BISCUIT MANUFACTURERS/ READING & LONDON" inscribed on bottom of tin. "Royal Horse Artillery", "Royal Irish Lancers", "Horse Guards", "15th King's Hussars", "Scots Greys", "3rd Prince of Wales Dragoon Guards", and "6th Dragoon Carbinere" printed in black ink on bottom of each corresponding illustration.

Finish
Ferrous metal tin with a hinged lid, painted with hues of green, yellow, blue, red, black, and white. Tin is made of ferrous metal. Bottom of tin has mfr's incised information.
Decoration
Seven coloured illustrations of British cavalry divisions are printed along the top and six sides of the tin. Decorative design featuring soldier memorabilia on top edge of lid.
