This artifact is linked to the Vancouver-based 3D television animation scene that emerged in the 1990s and 2000s. It is associated with the digitization of Canadian culture and the world’s first 3D animated digital television series. It reflects the evolving relationship between art and technology. The aesthetic qualities of ReBoot were new and unique and reflected both the possibilities and limitations of computer animation software in its early stages of development. It is part of the development of 3D animation software that made Canada a world-leader in the field of television, movie and computer animation. As a cartoon, ReBoot reflects themes, ideas and values that were meaningful to Canadians at the time of its creation, and likely influenced a generation of Canadians that grew up watching the adventures of Guardian Bob and his companions. Cet objet est lié à la série d'animation en 3D de télévision qui est apparu à Vancouver dans les années 1990s et 2000s. Function
The Cyberware Model 15 Desktop 3D Scanner was used by Mainframe Entertainment employees to scan models, figures, maquettes and objects. Objects were placed on the spinning table. The scanhead would move up and down, scanning the rotating object. The data heavy polygon mesh created by the scanners was then used as a rough reference form by computer modelers to create the computer models that were used by computer animators in the making of ReBoot. The Cyberware Model 15 Desktop 3D Scanner was used by Mainframe Entertainment employees to scan models, figures, maquettes and objects. The data created by the scanner would be added to Mainframe’s SGI-based system. The data heavy polygon mesh created by the scanners was used as a rough reference form by computer modelers to create the models that were used by computer animators in the making of ReBoot. The desktop scanner was used to scan smaller objects, or parts of larger models. Le Cyberware Model 15 Desktop 3D Scanner étais utilisé par les employées de Mainframe Entertainment pour analyser les figurines, maquettes, objets et modèles. Les données en forment de maille de polygone créé par le scanner était utilisé comme point de référence pour former les modèles à l'ordinateur pour les animations utiliser dans un programme animé à la télévision nommée ReBoot. Technical
According to Cyberware, the Model 15 Desktop 3D Scanner was a compact, low-cost, high-resolution scanner designed to makes rapid 3D scanning available for research, medical, artistic or engineering projects. Operated by a graphics workstation, it featured a scanning unit, motion subsystem, and software in a complete, integrated, package. The Model 15 Desktop 3D Scanner bundle included a high-resolution Desktop 3D scan head, Model 15 motion platform, SCSI or USB interface, power supply, cabling, online user guides and software. It could be used to scan objects up to 25 cm × 15 cm × 7.5 cm (10" × 6" × 3"). Selon Cyberware, le Model 15 Desktop 3d Scanner était compact, a faible prix et avait une haute résolution. Ceci faisait en sorte qu'il était optimal comme option dans les domaines de recherche, médicale, artistique et pour des projets d'ingénieure. Il opérait avec une station de travail graphique et étais compris d'une unité de scannage, un sous-système de motion et un logiciel complètement intégré dans un paquet. Le forfait du Model 15 Desktop 3D Scanner incluais une tête d'analyse à haute résolution comme bureau de travail en 3D, une plateforme a motion Model 15, SCSI ou interface USB, bloc d'alimentation, câbles, des guides d'utilisation en ligne et des logiciels. The front of the top box reads in part/Sur le devant de la boite du dessus l’inscription lit en part: “CAUTION/ LASER LIGHT, DO NOT STARE INTO THE BEAM , CLASS II LASER PRODUCT, Cyberware/MODEL 15, The back of both boxes has the same manufactures inscriptions that read in part/ Le dos des deux boites on la même inscription de fabricateur qui lit en part: CYBERWARE MODEL 15 SCANHEAD/CYBERWARE RAPID 3D DIGITIZER”.

The object is the shape of two black rectangular metal boxes that are offset and stacked one on top of the other. The top box has a synthetic plate that stretches across half of its front face while a manufacturers name is printed in green on the other portion. A dial is present on its proper left side. The back of the top box has two separate holes for plug wires to be connected for a video plug input system. The second part of the back also has more manufacturers information printed in light green on its right side. The bottom box has a circular table that sits on the top of it as well and has the ability to rotate. The table is fastened with a singular pin in its center and is possibly made of metal. The proper right side of the box has a switch for a power button as well as a plug for a power cord. Cet objet est construit avec deux boites noire en métal en forme rectangulaire qui sont décaler un par-dessus l'autre. La boite du dessus a une plaque synthétique qui occupe la moitié de sa face et le nom du fabricateur inscrit avec du lettrage verte sur l'autre portion. Un bouton est présent sur son bon côté gauche. Le dos de la boite du dessus a deux trous séparés pour connecter un système de prise d'entrée vidéo. L'autre parti du dos possède d'autres informations par rapport au fabricateur en vert pale sur son côté droit. La boite du dessous a une table tournante sur sa tête ainsi que la deuxième boite. La table tournante est fixée avec un pin qui est possiblement faite en métal et elle possède l'habileté de rotation. Le bon côté droit de la boite possède un bouton pour allumer l'objet ainsi qu'un trou pour un cordon d'alimentation.
