This artifact is linked to the Vancouver-based 3D television animation scene that emerged in the 1990s and 2000s. It is associated with the digitization of Canadian culture and the world’s first 3D animated digital television series. It reflects the evolving relationship between art and technology. The aesthetic qualities of ReBoot were new and unique and reflected both the possibilities and limitations of computer animation software in its early stages of development. It is part of the development of 3D animation software that made Canada a world-leader in the field of television, movie and computer animation. As a cartoon, ReBoot reflects themes, ideas and values that were meaningful to Canadians at the time of its creation, and likely influenced a generation of Canadians that grew up watching the adventures of Guardian Bob and his companions. Cet objet est lié à la série d'animation en 3D de télévision qui est apparu à Vancouver dans les années 1990s et 2000s. Function
The Cyberware Model 15 Desktop 3D Scanner and table was used by Mainframe Entertainment employees to scan models, figures, maquettes and objects. The data created by the scanner was added to Mainframe’s SGI-based system. The data heavy polygon mesh created by the scanners was then used as a rough reference form by computer modelers to create the computer models that were used by computer animators in the making of ReBoot. The desktop scanner was used to scan smaller objects, or parts of larger models. Le Cyberware Model 15 Desktop 3D Scanner étais utilisé par les employées de Mainframe Entertainment pour analyser les figurines, maquettes, objets et modèles. Les Données aperçue par le scanner étaient incorporées au système SGI de Mainframe. Les données en forment de maille de polygone créé par le scanner était utilisé comme point de référence pour former les modèles à l'ordinateur pour les animations utiliser dans un programme animé à la télévision nommée ReBoot. According to Cyberware, the Model 15 Desktop 3D Scanner was a compact, low-cost, high-resolution scanner designed to makes rapid 3D scanning available for research, medical, artistic or engineering projects. It could be used to scan objects up to 25 cm × 15 cm × 7.5 cm (10" × 6" × 3"). Selon Cyberware, le Model 15 Scanner de table en 3D étais compacte, avait une haute-résolution et pouvait rapidement scanner des objets en trois dimensions. Ceci lui faisait un candidat idéal pour la recherche, le domaine de la médecine, artistique ou ingénieure en plus de rapporter une bonne qualité prix. Il était utilisé pour scanner des objets avec une dimension jusqu'à 25 cm × 15 cm × 7.5 cm (10" × 6" × 3").

Markings
On the front face of the box/Sur le devant de la boite: "POWER, SCSI, CYBERWARE/ RAPID 3D DIGITIZER. The back of the box reads/L'arrière de la boite lit: 1/0, PWR, MOTION, CYBERWARE SCSI I/F/ SERIAL/DATA/SCSI/ADDR".
Missing
One back foot on the proper left side that is possibly made of synthetic material/Un pied à l'arrière du bon côté gauche qui est possiblement construite avec un matériel synthétique.
Finish
The artifact is shaped like a black metal box with green writing on its front face and two screws. It has four possibly synthetic feet underneath its base with four screws inside them. Four matching screws are visible on its top surface as well. The proper left side of the artifact has a white sticker with an additional serial number. The back of the artifact shows five outlet plugs available with one switch on its proper left side. Green lettering is also apparent on this surface with a large concentration of it being on the proper right side. L'objet est construit en forme dune boite en métal carré avec du lettrage vert sur la face du devant et deux visses. Il y a quatre pattes qui sont possiblement synthétiques sur le dessous de la boite avec quatre visses à l'intérieur dès les pattes. Quatre autres visses sont visibles dur le dessus de l'objet aussi. Le bon côté gauche de l'artefact a un autocollant blanc avec un numéro de série additionnelle. Le dos de l'objet a cinq prises "f" et un commuter sur son bon côté gauche. Du lettrage vert est visible sur la surface du dos avec une grande majorité sur le bon côté gauche aussi.
