- Truly a model family - When Capt. Eugene Leclerc was forced on "the beach" which is a nautical for idlemess, owing to an accident in which he suffered a broken leg and was unable to continue command of his river St. Lawrence schooner, he cast about for new occupation and began making model yachts. In time, his children took up the craft until now seven sons and three daughters are expert in turning our replicas of America Cup Yachts or the smart "Bankers" which figure in the Atlantic Fishermen's Race. In the photograph, Antonio Leclerc, aged 19, eldest of the family is at work on a model. He has been busy with his fingers and tools since the age of ten. The boys make hulls and spars, rig and paint, the girls cut and sew the sails. This family lives at St. Jean Port Joli, near Quebec City, a centre of wood work artists.
