- Historical - The Center Acme Coal Oil lamp designed by Adams Westlake Company, Chicago, was used as standard equipment for illumination of Grand Truck railway cars from the 1875's to the early part of the twentieth century. During that period, this type of illuminating fixture was standard equipment on all American railroads. In the early part of the twentieth century, this coal oil lamp was succeeded by the Pintch Gas type of fixture.
