- Donna Jean Smith, sic, travels four miles by boat and then walks two miles down the tracks to attend the school car when it reaches Kukatuch on the Capreol-Foleyet Division of the C.N.R. Her father is log master on the dam on the Groundhog River. In winter, part of the river is open between the dam and the railway tracks. To make the trip, a pointer with outboard motor and dog team with sleigh are used "leapfrog". The boat is used in open stretches; then the dogs and sleigh are used with the boat loaded on the sleigh. In open water, dogs and sleigh are in the boat.
