- Hollinger Gold Mines has one of the most unique methods in mining of carrying gravel for backfill. Ton buckets, suspended on a heavy wire cable, move day and night across three and one half miles of countryside between the gravel pit and the mine head conveying 1,600 tons of gravel backfill each day.
