An example of a portable stereo manufactured and marketed in Canada. The stereo was purchased by the donor’s father, Frank Kasnas, on one of his many trips to Montreal as a Metropolitan Life Insurance Canada agent. - Function
-
To play back recorded discs at 16, 33, 45 or 78 RPM. - Technical
-
The manufacturer makes a point to advertise that this stereo is “all transistor” meaning that there are no vacuum tubes and helps show the industry’s transition towards solid state transistors. Type sample of a mid-60’s player used when 16 RPM records made a brief appearance. - Area Notes
