Introduced to Canada in 2000, the AT-H3015W was one of the first high definition TV monitors on the market. At this time Canadian broadcasters and TV providers were beginning to plan the conversion to HDTV. In 2002 cable and satellite providers began to offer a limited amount of programming from American sources. Early in early 2003 Toronto’s City-TV became the first station in Canada to broadcast a high definition signal over the air, while in November of that year CBC broadcast its first HD program. The transition to HDTV for over-the-air broadcasts was completed in 2011. The artifact was originally a demo unit later acquired for home use by the donor, a regional sales manager with Panasonic Canada. Le AT-H3015W était un des premiers moniteurs de télévisions à haute définition sur le marché. Le Canada avait déjà commencé à planifier la transition au TVHD au début de l'année 2002. Les fournisseurs de programmes de télévision par câble et par satellite ont tranquillement commencé offrir quelques programmes conçus par des sources américaines. En 2003 Toronto's City-TV est devenu la première station au pays de réseau de radiodiffusion et télédiffusion à haute définition. En novembre de la même année CBC a diffusé son premier programme en HD. La transition pour toutes les émissions en directe était finalement complété en 2011. Cet artefact en particulier était une unité de démonstration procurée par le donateur qui était un gérant de vente avec la compagnie Panasonic Canada.

Function

This artifact functions as a means to enable TV production or transmission personnel to monitor picture quality. Unlike a television receiver, a television monitor has no tuner or speaker. Cet artefact permet au personnel de production de télévision ou transmission d'examiner le contrôle de la qualité de l'image. Un moniteur de télévision comme celle-ci n'a pas d'écouteur ni un dispositif d'accord de télévision.

Technical

The AT-H3015W can display two high definition picture formats, 1080i and 480p. Although shipped with default settings, these could be adjusted to match different input signals and signal formats, and the changes could be stored in its memory. Le AT-H3015W a deux formats d'images-écran à haute définition, incluant le 1080i et le 480p. Finish

This artifact is rectangular in shape and has a silver and black metal body. It has a concave glass screen on its front along with synthetic knobs and white lettering. A drawer below the screen can slide out to reveal a series of grey synthetic buttons. These buttons are divided in columns and separated by a background change in colour on the bottom of the drawer. Red synthetic lights are also visible on the drawer. The back of the artifact has a manufacturing logo that details the machine’s specifications. It also has a series of metal cable ports that are located on the proper left side of the artifact. L'artefact est fait en forme rectangulaire avec un corps fait en métal de couleur argent et noir. Il a un écran concave qui est fait en verre. Il y a aussi des boutons synthétiques en dessous de l'écran. Un tiroir est aussi visible en dessous de l'écran. Le tiroir peut glisser pour ouvrir. À l'intérieur du tiroir il y a des boutons synthétiques qui sont séparées en colonnes avec un changement de couleurs sur le fond du tiroir. Des lumières rouges fabriqué avec le même matériel que les boutons peuvent aussi être aperçu sur le fond du tiroir. Le dos de l'artefact possède une plaque du manufacturier ainsi que des orifices de câbles qui sont filetés sur le bon côté gauche de l'objet.
