Autres titres: A conference on Y.M.C.A. matters as they relate to the Canadian National Railways at Hornepayne is held between railroad and "Y" officials. Mr. W.B. Edey, Superintendent of the Hornepayne Division of the CNR holds a meeting with C.A. Brittain, Gen. Sec'y of the Y.M.C.A.; G.P. Bouchey, CNR train Dispatcher and Chairman of the "Y" Board F.G. Walton, locomotive Foreman CNR., and Y.M.C.A. Board member; and A.E. Luck, CNR Storekeeper and "Y" Vice-Chairman. Realizing the great value of the Y.M.C.A. work in railway centres, the railroads in USA and Canada have built 90% of the railway "Y" buildings and they contribute a half a million dollars a year to their operation. Usually the railroad provides the building, outfits it will all the equipment and basic supplies, then turns it over to the Y.M.C.A. organization for operation. The Y.M.C.A. provides a general secretary from it's ranks to operate the hostel. Replacement and operation expenses are met as closely as possible on the low rates offered to railwaymen, but the railroad subsidizes operation annually. Good value is received as the contribution to the working railroaders morale is rated highly. In addition, many community projects affecting the railroad workers' family are sponsored by the Y.M.C.A.
