THE 18 DOME SLEEPER OBSERVATION LOUNGE CARS WERE NAMED AFTER FAMOUS FEDERAL & PROVINCIAL PARKS, AND EACH CAR WAS DECORATED BY MURALS OF THESE PARKS. FAMOUS AND RELATIVELY UNKNOWN CANADIAN ARTISTS PRODUCED THE MURALS; EACH ARTIST WAS PAID $1,400.00 FOR THE 3 PAINTINGS HE OR SHE PRODUCED: ONE TO BE MOUNTED ON CAR BULKHEAD, ONE FOR ADJACENT WINDOW WALL, AND ONE A STYLISTIC MAP PAINTING TO BE MOUNTED ON THE FLAT END WALL. - Function

THE STAINLESS STEEL CARS WERE BUILT BY THE BUDD CO., PHILADELPHIA PA IN 1953-1954. 173 CARS WERE BUILT, SUFFICIENT TO RE-EQUIP 18 TRAINS.
