This sign making kit was used by the Montreal Stencil Works Limited, 221-273 McGill St., which existed from 1903 up until 1949. This type of product was imported and sold to various Canadian clientelle. It is likely that Montreal Stencil Works made their own rubber stamps in the early 20th century. This sign making kit was found in the donor's family's attic in the Ottawa-Hull region and may have been used by the family. Cet ensemble a été utilisé par la compagnie " Montreal Stencil Works Limited, 221-273 rue McGill, qui a existé entre 1903 jusqu'à 1949. Ce type de produit a été importé et vendu à la clientèle canadienne. Il est probable que Montreal Stencil Works a produit leurs propres étampes en caoutchouc au début du 20e siècle. The various ink stamps would be pressed onto the pad of ink within the kit, then pressed onto a piece of wood to write the details of a sign. - Brown wooden kit with numerous ink stamps stored inside. Wooden case has two small metal clasps to help close the lid. There are two black ink pads inside the kit. Paper instructions with black text are fixed inside the lid. The outside of the kit has metal hinges. Each wooden ink stamps has a black identifying symbol on its surface. Ensemble en bois brun avec plusieurs étampes d'encre placé à l'intérieur. La boîte de bois a deux petits fermoirs pour permettre la fermeture du couvercle.
