CAE is a Canadian company that dates back to just after the Second World War. The development of the CAE Air1 Ventilator was in response to the Canadian government’s call to industry to contribute to the fight against COVID-19. This respirator was the first such technology to receive certification from Health Canada during the pandemic. This made-in-Canada ventilator is made up of over 500 parts which come from 130 Canadian suppliers and since then, the company has developed 8,200 ventilators. CAE est une compagnie canadienne qui date depuis la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale. Le développement du CAE Air1 Ventilateur était une réponse aux demandes du gouvernement du Canada pour de l'aide à combattre la COVID-19. Ce ventilateur la première technologie à recevoir la certification de Health Canada durant la pandémie. Ce ventilateur est construit au Canada et comprends 500 pièces qui parvient de 130 fournisseurs canadiens. Depuis sa certification la compagnie a développé 8,200 ventilateurs.

Function

The CAE Air1 ventilator works to oxygenate the lungs by pumping or blowing oxygen-rich air into the organs. This ventilator can also remove carbon dioxide from lungs through an artificial airway. Ventilators such as this model are used when a person has difficulty breathing or undergoes respiratory distress. Le CAE Air1 ventilateur fonctionne pour oxygénée les poumons en pompant de l'air riche en oxygène aux organes. Ce ventilateur peut aussi enlever du dioxyde de carbone des poumons avec l'aide d'un tube a air artificiel. Les modelés de ventilateurs comme celui-ci sont déployés quand une personne a de la difficulté à respirer ou a une détresse respiratoire.

Technical

The unique feature of the Air1 ventilator is the large touch-screen display. The large display allows for the data to be read and recorded by medical personnel from further away and does not require entry into the patient’s room, saving PPE and staff time. The Air1 also uses either room air or pressurized oxygen, an important factor in the event of a shortage in the latter. La caractéristique unique du ventilateur Air1 est qu'il y a un affichage a écran tactile très large. L'écran dune telle taille permet pour la lecture des données et l'enregistrement de ces données par la personnelle médicale d'une distance supérieure. Ceci fait en sorte que la personnelle n'a pas besoin de rentrer dans la chambre d'un patient et ça gagne du temps ainsi que des ressources de EPI. Le Air1 utilise soit de l'air ambiant ou de l'oxygène sous pression. Ceci est très pratique comme caractéristique s'il y a un manque d'oxygène sous pression.

Finish

A rectangular shaped object with a grey and white synthetic body. The base of the artifact has four black and white synthetic wheels. The body of the artifact has two synthetic red coloured tube ports that exit from its front. A silver coloured metal arm sits below the tube ports and it has a warning sticker on it. A glass display screen that is black in colour sits on the top of the artifact. Several other stickers are visible on the back of the artifact. Un objet en forme rectangulaire avec un corps en matériel synthétique de couleur grise en blanc. Le corps de l'artefact a deux ports d’accès synthétiques de couleur rouge qui ressortent de sa poitrine. Un bras en métal de couleur argent est situé en bas des ports et à un autocollant aux milieux du bras. La base de l'artefact a quatre roues synthétiques de couleur noire et grise. Un écran en verre de couleur noire s'assoit sur le dessus de l'artefact.
